Galician hotels increase their profitability by 8.5% in August and grow above the Spanish average

  • The hotel sector obtained total nominal revenues of around €300 million during the first eight months of 2024
  • International tourism has accumulated four consecutive years of growth in hotel demand in August, reaching a historic high

 

According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics, Galician hotels achieved, last August, historic highs in hotel revenues, reaching €81.6 million, a figure 6% higher than last year.

 

The hotel segment registered nearly 768,000 travelers accommodated and 1.7 million nights, being in both cases maximums of the historical series and exceeding the values ​​of the same month last year by 6.6% and 3.5% respectively.

 

During that month, two out of three nights in Galician hotels and guest houses were spent by Spaniards from outside the community, which was the highest percentage in recent months. International tourism also grew during August, specifically by 6% and reached a record high of 355,000 nights.

 

In the first eight months of the year, qualitative progress has been made in the hotel sector. It is estimated that total nominal income was €297 million, 7% more than last year, which is the highest figure in the historical series.

 

Data confirming that hotels and guest houses in Galicia grew above the Spanish average.
