The Galician Tourism Agency, candidate for best public administration in the implementation of tourism quality in its territory

  • The Secretary of State for Tourism and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces selected six supra-municipal institutions for this award.

The Xunta de Galicia, with the Galician Tourism Agency, is one of the six candidates to become the best Spanish supra-municipal administration in the implementation of quality tourism systems in its territory . Every year, the Secretary of State for Tourism, together with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) publicly recognize the work carried out by professionals, institutions, tourist services and destinations for improving quality in management.

The organization values the work carried out by Turismo de Galicia in the promotion, dissemination and support in the implementation of quality systems both in companies and in Galician destinations. More specifically, it highlights the work in the development of the Comprehensive System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destinations (SICTED), the project that improves the quality of tourist destinations in Spain. Galicia participates in the Spanish Tourism Quality group, in the monitoring, development and improvement of the SICTED model since 2002. Currently, the Community has 19 SICTED destinations, and more than 1,300 tourist services adhered to and recognized with the tourism quality seal.

The Galician candidacy also takes into account the participation of destination quality technicians and the analysis of results of tourism activity carried out by the Tourism Studies and Research Area. The winner will be announced next January, during the Fitur 2024 tourism fair.
