The most important Surf Film Festival on the planet will be held in Valdoviño

In Europe, the sites to host the Save the Waves Film Festival confirmed in 2017 are Ericeira, Amsterdam and Valdoviño

The joint work of Valdoviño City Council and the Commonwealth, within the Costa das Ondas project, has made it possible for Valdoviño to host the world’s most prestigious surf film festival in August, the Save the Waves Film Festival, a cultural project promoted by The US NGO Save the Waves, which in 2017 will be held in three European cities: Lice Ericeira, the Dutch capital Amsterdam and Valdoviño, which will also be the first surf museum in Spain.

As confirmed by the Californian NGO, the festival will be held on Saturday, August 26, at the Valdoviño House of Culture thanks to the proposal made by the City Council in the framework of its project Ocean Surf Museum, and with the support of the Commonwealth Of Municipalities of the Region of Ferrol, who will be the one who finances the festival through an agreement with the Tourism Agency of Galicia. The Save the Waves Film Festival will offer films that alone can not change the world, but do encourage education and environmental awareness through documentaries and short films in English and Spanish.

The initiative is part of the Valdoviño project to be the epicenter of surfing in Galicia and is part of the Costa das Ondas project, a surf tourism product of the Commonwealth itself, whose objective is the development of an economic sector around the Surfing and its last aim is that this becomes the authentic signal of identity of the whole region.
