The distribution of the #QuedamosEnGalicia22 vouchers begins

The first card was handed out in Outes by the Vice-President of the Xunta Alfonso Rueda.

The beneficiaries of the #QuedamosEnGalicia22 tourist vouchers promoted by the Xunta to encourage domestic tourism during the low season have already begun to receive the cards that can be used in the more than 850 establishments participating in the campaign. The Cabaniñas do Bosque, in Outes, served as the setting for the symbolic act of handing over the first of these vouchers. A local woman received it from the hands of the first president of the Xunta in functions, Alfonso Rueda, and in the presence of other authorities and the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal.

The event served to reaffirm the success of this initiative, which doubled the demand of the previous edition with more than 20,000 applications in just 12 hours. The beneficiaries will receive vouchers amounting to 250, 375 and 500 euros, of which the Xunta will contribute 40%, and will have until the end of the year to use them.

The distribution of the vouchers will allow them to be used in the coming weeks, since one of the objectives of the initiative is to encourage the use of tourist services and establishments outside the high season. The Xunta de Galicia highlights that the last edition of this initiative injected 7.6 million euros into the sector. On that occasion, the highest consumption of the vouchers took place during the last quarter of the year.

This measure constitutes an added stimulus for Galician tourism, which in 2021 led the recovery of the sector in Spain, and which in 2022 is once again showing a positive evolution. Also contributing to this is the extension of the Xacobean Holy Year with record numbers of pilgrims arriving on the Way of St. James.
