The Repsol Guide has once again highlighted some of the most charming establishments in Spain through its well-known ‘soletes’. This distinction, designed to recognize bars, terraces, and restaurants with soul, has added 23 new additions in Galicia, bringing the total number of recognized establishments in the region to 328.
Unlike other distinctions focused on haute cuisine, the ‘soletes’ value the proximity, authenticity, and craftsmanship of those places that win over the public with their atmosphere, service, and honest cooking.
A Coruña tops the list
In this new summer edition, the province of A Coruña tops the Galician list with eight new establishments recognized for their authenticity and charm. In Porto do Son, O Castro and Cabeiro Camping Gastrobar stand out; in Carnota, Riba da Cheda and O Moncho Burguer pay homage to flavor. Also joining the selection are Do Pincho, in Carral; Pura Manteca, in Miño; Saburil, in Muxía; Marte, in Santiago de Compostela; and Árnica, in the city of A Coruña. A map of varied flavors that combines sea, mountains, and reinvented tradition.
Pontevedra isn’t far behind
Pontevedra also adds seven new sun bars that reinforce its summer appeal. The list includes El Pirata, in O Grove; Bico Beach, in Sanxenxo; Hama Bar, in the capital of Pontevedra; Los 3 Monos Aguete, in Marín; Carmela Portomaior and Noite Tapas, in Bueu; and Areoso Beach Club, in A Illa de Arousa. All of them share a carefully curated and relaxed approach, perfect for enjoying the Rías Baixas.
Lugo and Ourense also shine
The Galician interior rounds out this edition with offerings that combine local cuisine, tradition, and freshness. In Lugo, the following have been recognized: Salitre, in Burela; La Terraza del Méndez, in the city of Lugo; Confitería Méndez, in O Valadouro; and Taberna de Galiana, in Mondoñedo. Meanwhile, in the province of Ourense, O Pillabán, in A Rúa, and O Pilabán, in A Rúa, have received their yellow sticker. Os Faroles, in Barbadás; and Villa Chicana, in Vilamartín de Valdeorras. A recognition that highlights the culinary potential of rural Galicia.
With this latest round of awards, Galicia consolidates its presence in this alternative guide that celebrates the everyday, the authentic, and what can be enjoyed without rushing. Perfectly aligned with the spirit of summer.
