The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has transferred to the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) a proposal to incorporate equality criteria in the assessment for the granting of certificates of excellence in tourism. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Roman Rodriguez, met with the director of the ICTE, Fernando Fraile, to convey this Galician proposal, which seeks to continue to deepen the promotion of good practices in the sector that favor the gender perspective, with seals that address corporate social responsibility and promote equity in the tourism sector.

The Galician application is born from the parliamentary agreement of last December 4 in which the Xunta was urged to meet with representatives of the tourism sector to promote measures in the field of awareness, training and the application of recruitment criteria to protect groups at risk in this sector, the economic engine of Galicia.

With a total of 273 Q of Tourist Quality Galicia has become the leader in Spain in these seals of tourist excellence, surpassing Andalusia for the first time in a recognition that encourages companies to meet a number of requirements. The aim of the Xunta, in line with social demands, would be to improve working conditions, with quality measures in employment, emphasizing those that may affect the tourist accommodation sector, in particular the housekeepers.
