Ourense premieres athletics track at the Expourense

With an investment of 3 million euros, the facilities were inaugurated with two competitions, which brought together in the city of Burgas 800 athletes, the final stage of the Abanca League winter in the base categories and the trophy created for the occasion, which included the best Galician athletes in all disciplines.
The hydraulic track that has been built in Expourense has a 200-metre track and has eight streets in the central part and six in the periphery, which allow developing various disciplines. In addition, it has a retractable grandstand with capacity for 500 people, which can be extended to other dismountable grandstands for up to 1,700 people. The lifting of the track and its withdrawal can be done in about ten minutes.
The project, promoted by Xunta de Galicia, the Provincial Council, Concello and Expourense allows Ourense to have the most modern indoor athletics track in Galicia, a facility that is among the three best in Spain and which will allow the city to host national and international sports competitions.
The inauguration of the facilities took place in a ceremony attended by Alberto Núñez Feijoo, President of the Xunta; José Ramón Lete, Secretary of State for Sport; Marta Míguez, General Secretary for Sport; Manuel Baltar, President of the Provincial Council; Jesús Vázquez, Mayor of Ourense; Isidoro Hornillos, President of the Galician Athletics Federation and Alejandro Rub.
After these first competitions, next week the sporting events for the recently inaugurated tracks will continue with the Galician veterans championship, the first week of January 2018 the regional combined events and the Spanish U-20 Championship.
