Family tourism, the third largest in terms of turnover

That family tourism has experienced exponential growth in recent years in our country is undoubted. Thus, for example, a study by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism indicates that this segment already accounts for 17.8% of total tourism business volume in Spain, behind tourism for couples (45% of the total) and tourism for singles (18.2%), which would place them among the second or third place in turnover, according to the report consulted. According to another study, that of the Spanish Federation of Large Families, the economic impact of family tourism in 2017 reached a total of 18,500 million euros. Another important fact highlighted in this report is that 92% of families make at least one leisure trip a year, 30.7% make two leisure trips and more than 21% make three trips.
Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are the leading European countries in the choice of family tourism: more than 40% of their inhabitants choose to travel with their families and the majority opt for sea and beach tourism.
Specialization
This growth in interest has made it possible for travellers to find a growing number of specialised travel agencies and products created for this demand, either with closed tourist packages or with activities aimed at different types of families. In this sense, the Galicia Destino Familiar seal of approval was born, promoted by the Clúster Turismo de Galicia, a brand that accredits accommodation, catering companies, agencies and all kinds of quality tourism activities focused on families and with which they want to collaborate in the promotion of this type of differentiated products, contributing to their joint promotion.
