Xunta de Galicia

More than 77 thousand people visited the stand of Galicia during the five days of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2020, which closed its doors this Sunday at IFEMA. Attendees were able to learn about Galicia’s proposal for Xacobeo 2021 and experiences related to nature, cultural heritage or food and wine, the promotion of Green Spain and, especially, the Jacobeo 2021. The milestone called to be the most important cultural event the next took momentum in our last days through public-private partnership. Specifically, in one week the Xunta sealed four new agreements with Vegalsa-Eroski, Husqvarna, Iberia and Alsa, which already exceed 9 million business commitments, which also include many informative and promotional activities linked to the coming Holy Year.

The Galician exhibitor hosted more than 40 presentations and had more than 16 informative spaces in which the main elements that characterize our Community as a destination were represented. There were areas dedicated to the four provinces, the seven cities and different xeodestines. More than 350 professional meetings were held in the business area managed by the Galician Tourism Cluster, where contacts were maintained between professionals and with different public administrations, both Galician and national, as well as with an outstanding international presence, highlighting the meetings with professionals from the tourism sector in Brazil, Colombia, Russia, Japan and China, which contributed to laying the foundations for the international projection of tourism in the Galician Community for this year. In addition, representatives of the Clúster Tursimo de Galicia held meetings with the A Coruña City Council and other national tourism clusters, and a collaboration agreement was signed with CaixaBank to provide two lines of financing for Galician SMEs linked to the Way of St. James that wish to improve or start up a new business.

The candidatures for World Heritage were also present, as well as other unique elements of our tourism such as the Carnival, rural tourism, active tourism or sports such as surfing and swimming. In short, Galicia’s stand at Fitur was a showcase for its own sustainable tourism model based on quality.

More than 200,000 brochures, meetings and interviews
More than 200,000 brochures and other promotional materials from participating entities were distributed. In addition, contact was maintained with nearly 200 journalists and bloggers of different nationalities who came to the stand to obtain information. From a professional point of view, meetings were held with representatives of the Spanish Tourist Offices abroad, which served to carry out the annual collaboration planning, as well as institutional contacts such as Mexico or Panama.

The functional exhibitor was divided into different areas for presentations, work meetings, information and attention to visitors, with spaces such as Galicia Sola, which recreated representative sounds of the Community or a tasting area attended by teachers and students from the Centro Superior de Hostelería de Galicia
