Xunta de Galicia

The Xunta de Galicia is committed to promoting the Galicia Calidade brand in the Galician agri-food sector in order to become more competitive through a strategic action plan and a series of measures that will serve to boost and promote the quality of Galician agri-food products, by committing to actions that reinforce their competitiveness in the markets. Thus, as explained by the Regional Minister for the Rural Environment to the representatives of the various protected designations and geographical indications, Galicia Calidade will encompass, identify and promote Galician products with a designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or that meet requirements of excellence in production or processing. Galicia Calidade will also cover products derived from indigenous Galician livestock breeds, thus giving added value to these productions, as well as the PescadeRías or Gallega 100% seal, which recognises and distinguishes milk of differentiated quality produced on dairy farms in our community.

In this line, the Minister stressed that the aim of the Xunta for this year 2020 is to publicize this new momentum, through a strategic action plan aimed at national and international prescribers, with a schedule that is structured in three steps: Galician, national and international, which pivots on the promotion, positioning and aid to producers and processors. This planning will culminate in June with the First International Congress of Galicia Calidade, which will allow experts to meet Galician companies representing the rural world and to deepen the concept of the Atlantic Diet, which will be the spearhead to transmit and enhance the healthy character of our production.

Finally, González explained to the presidents of the regulatory councils that Galicia Calidade is also going to be a transversal bet and of maximum implication of the Xunta that is framed in the Green Galicia, the Innovative Galicia (formation and investigation), the Galicia Moza and the Family Galicia.
