“You are the best reflection of Galicia”, said the president of the Xunta, Alberto Nunez Feijoo in the delivery of the Q Quality held at the Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo. Galicia has 274 of these distinctions, just behind Andalusia, something President emphasized especially given the differences in population and establishments volume between the two regions. Nunez Feijoo especially highlighted the progress that Galicia has lived these years towards excellence. Not surprisingly, if in 2004 there were only 16 certified companies, today this figure reaches 274 Q, leading the number of Q in infrastructure such as hotels, apartments, houses rural tourism, spas or sailing facilities.
“We welcome the increase in the number of certified companies, with 6 more this year, but above all, we celebrate the long-term work,” he added, stressing that the Q quality mark means prestige, differentiation, reliability, thoroughness and promotion. In this sense, the president of the regional government, also highlighted the work together with the Cluster Turismo de Galicia, who working in various joint initiatives for excellence and professionalism of sector. All of them are objectives in the comprehensive the Tourism Plan 2014-2016 as one of the basic pillars that should support “industrial tourism building of Galicia”.
In this sense, Feijoo took advantage of his participation in the event to congratulate the effort of the whole sector and its commitment to quality, which is reflected in the good numbers harvested in the first quarter of the year, our community has received about 860,000 tourist, 7.3% more than in the same period of 2015. “we are talking about the best quarter since the crisis began, with a number of overnight stays amounted to 1.5 million and in the three sectors of demand : both domestic demand, which grew by 3.6% as domestic demand (10.2%) and international (which grew by 4.3%)”, he said, “one of each ten euros in Galicia comes from tourism”. Feijoo was convinced that this can be one great summer for the sector.
In the ceremony of the Q distinction of Quality also the president of the Xunta, were also present, among other authorities, the president of ICTE, Miguel Mirones, the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, the government delegate in Galicia, Santiago Villanueva, or the president of the Cluster Turismo de Galicia, Francisco González.
