The first vice-president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda and new responsible of the Tourism portfolio in the Xunta de Galicia had this morning a first meeting with the directive organ of the Cluster Tourism of Galicia, the Consello Executivo, with which a first contact with the representative entity of the Galician tourism sector was made. Both Cluster Turismo de Galicia and Xunta de Galicia agreed on a common objective, which is to promote the brand Galicia as a safe destination and make it even more competitive. The holder of the first vice-presidency after holding the meeting with the Cluster, indicated that they are the best interlocutors to have at this moment since they include the different sectors that compose the great industry that has the tourism in Galicia.
The president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, on the other hand, also highlighted both the good harmony that has been established between the regional administration and the sector during this time and the importance of continuing to bet on Galicia as a safe destination. In this sense, the President highlighted the concern of the sector to the situation it faces in the coming months, after a difficult campaign this year, and the relevance of the next Holy Year.
In this sense, Alfonso Rueda, in this first meeting with the directors of the Cluster indicated that at the moment to unite forces is the way to follow since Galicia has to continue offering a quality tourism, a safe tourism to continue being a reference in the tourism at national and international level.
Rueda detailed that “in a summer in which Galicia was placed in the set of Spain as a safe destination, in a summer in which it offered a tourism that without losing quality assured tranquillity, now we have to continue adapting so that this is not lost and to confront a second part”.
The road map to follow has a clear objective which is the reactivation and revitalization of this sector with measures such as those already implemented by the Galician Government, as the Reactivation Plan, where one of the pillars is the program “Galicia Safe Destination”, which enhances the values that distinguish our community and that in this current context, even more relevant, such as our nature, our landscape, our beaches, our interior, the coasts, food and wine or the Camino de Santiago.
Finally, Alfonso Rueda made special emphasis on “that in January Xacobeo 2021 begins, which even in these circumstances has to be a historic opportunity for Galicia and its tourism, so we must continue working to take advantage of its full potential.
