Xunta de Galicia

The regional administration finances with 250,000 euros the program that will last for a year with the aim of achieving a minimum insertion of 45% in the labor market.

As a novelty, participants will be able to obtain the certificate of professionalism in basic catering operations, will receive scholarships for attendance at the different actions of the program and access to conciliation services such as nurseries.

The Regional Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry in collaboration with the Provincial Association of Hotel and Tourism Employers of Lugo (Apehl) have launched the comprehensive employment plan “Dimo Lugo V” from which 100 unemployed people can benefit, with preference for groups with difficult insertion such as unqualified under-30s, people with disabilities, women and immigrants. 70 students will participate in the actions to be developed in Lugo capital and 30 in Monforte de Lemos.

The programme, which is currently open to the selection of participants, will last for one year and includes a specific programme of training and work experience in companies that will improve the qualification and performance of future professionals in the hotel and restaurant industry, an area of special importance in a province with great potential for tourism and services such as Lugo.

Training for specific and transversal employment
The training actions are very varied and the 100 participating students have the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as food handling and hygiene, computer literacy, kitchen and living room assistants, floor waiters, kitchen assistants and basic English for the hotel industry, among others, which will be adapted according to the demand and the profile of the participants. The programme also includes personalised information, guidance and advice on active job search, risk aversion, interview workshop and digital skills and social networks. The initiative seeks the labour insertion of at least 40% of its participants, once the training programme has been completed, although Apehl hopes to reach at least the 45% achieved in the previous edition.

What’s new
Among the novelties of this edition, they emphasized that it will be possible to obtain a certificate of professionalism in basic operations of restaurant and bar, as well as the concession of bags of 5 euros for each day of attendance to the actions of the program. The programme also includes, as a support measure for participants, conciliation initiatives, such as a childcare service or care and attention for dependent elderly people.
