Turismo de Galicia

The 49th edition of the “Festival Interceltique de Lorient” (France), which started last August 2 to celebrate the tradition of Celtic nations, has this year Galicia as guest territory under the title “Année de la Galice”.

The conselleiro of Culture and Tourism, Román Rodríguez, inaugurated the pavilion that until the next day 11 will be dedicated to our community. In this act, the representative of the Galician Government wished that the Galician presence in this event serves to project our culture and identity with a view to the next Xacobeo 21, an event “that will place Galicia as a cultural epicenter at an international level”. And he pointed out, “what you will see in the next few days in this pavilion is a sample of all the good that Galician culture can offer the world”, hoping that this celebration will “strengthen even more the ties between Galicia and Brittany”.

The Tourism Cluster has a prominent position within the Galician pavilion to show the audience the offer of our community as a cultural, gastronomic and tourist destination of quality, accompanying the great artistic program of music and dance to be developed throughout the week.

It is expected that more than 750,000 people from all over the world will pass through the festival during the nine days of celebration, in addition to the approximately 4500 artists from a dozen countries, which is a great opportunity to showcase our quality as a destination.

Galicia will show in this historic event the best of its musical tradition, hosting 55 concerts in the enclosure in which more than 300 attractors will participate. Renowned musicians such as Carlos Núñez or Mercedes Peón will attend, as well as others who are renewing our musical tradition, such as Davide Salvado.

Grand Nuit de Galice

Today, Monday, the “Grand Nuit de Galice” will be celebrated, in which the Galician tradition will be the protagonist, while on Tuesday there will be a Galician dance workshop led by Xacarandaina. On Wednesday they will pass by the Galicia pavilion in Lorient Ariel Ninas, Do Fondo da Barra and, at night, in the “Espace Marine”, the group Milladorio will perform, one of the most recognised bands in Galician music.

On Thursday the Galician bagpiper Carlos Núñez will occupy the same stage while on Friday the highlight of the Lorient Festival will be the performance of musician Xosé Lois Romero. On Saturday, the event will end with a performance by the artist Mercedes Peón.
