The Ribeira Sacra in Lugo hosted the grand final of the senior golf circuit, an instrument that the Galician Tourism Agency has been using for 9 years to promote the community as a different golf destination that conveys tranquillity, relaxation and above all good gastronomy and good wines.
Finally it was Antonio Montera, in the Scratch category, the absolute winner, followed by the San Sebastian player Jaime Beñarán. In handicap category the winner was the Navarrese player Gabriel Nagore, followed by the Sevillian Carlos Menor. In the Ladies category the best was the player from San Sebastian Rafaela Argamasilla and in the Mastersenior category (over 70 years old) the Sevillian player José Mª Cobo Machacón. In the parallel final triumphed the players Manuela Pachón and Cristina Valverde who were first and second respectively.
The 24 finalists of the Circuit, coming from Valencia, Pamplona, Seville, Madrid, San Sebastian and Gijón, along with their companions, could enjoy 4 days in the Ribeira Sacra, accommodated in the spa hotel Oca Augas Santas Golf, where the landscape and enogastronomy of the ribeira sacra were also protagonists. This group was joined by 30 friends of the finalists who acquired the tourist package to accompany them in this experience and play the parallel final. It is necessary to emphasize, between these last ones, a group of 16 person coming from Valencia.
During their stay visitors could enjoy, in addition to the cuisine of the area, a visit to the winery of Regina Viarum, in the birthplace of Amandi and a catamaran tour of the canyons of Sil and thus be able to contemplate the vineyards in full harvest so many of them decided to extend their stay in Galicia until Sunday, to know other golf courses and enjoy Galician territory.
