smart turismo

The II World Congress of Intelligent Tourist Destinations will be held in Oviedo from 25 to 27 June, organized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda and the Government of the Principality of Asturias, a meeting that will focus on the new tourism models of the 21st century, based on the principles of governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility. The deadline to participate in the Congress is now open, both as a professional attendee and for those companies wishing to present their most disruptive products and services linked to intelligent tourist destinations or for those researchers wishing to present papers related to the themes proposed for this edition of the Congress. For both companies and researchers, the deadline for submission of proposals is 30 April.
During the II World Congress of Intelligent Tourist Destinations, which is being held for the second consecutive year, experts from around the world will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the tourism sector and destinations. These opportunities arise from the development, implementation and management of innovative products and services based on new technological solutions. That is why the Congress reserves a leading role for entrepreneurs and startups as generators of tourism innovation. In the case of the research papers to be presented, they should be linked to four themes: data-based destination management, new technological solutions to measure the objectives of sustainable tourism, the link between the circular economy and tourism, and the importance of accessibility in intelligent tourist destinations.
The Congress will feature keynote speeches and round tables to discuss the opportunities and challenges for tourism arising from the most relevant digital trends such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Automatic Learning, Internet of Things, Location Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Blockchain and Virtual & Augmented Reality.
The digital transformation within destinations, technological solutions to measure the impact of tourism, governance in intelligent tourist destinations, the importance of new technologies in sustainable development, as well as the role of open platforms and data management in improving the competitiveness of tourist destinations, are among the other issues to be addressed.
