The organizers of the World Travel Market in London, one of the three most important tourism fairs in the world, are convinced that the event will take place in November as planned, all in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to TravelMole, those responsible for the fair are working to modify the terms of the contract for participation in the same, as the current ones do not guarantee the reimbursement of the price paid so from the organization of the WTM is working to make attending the fair “as easy as possible” offering flexibility in terms and conditions and deadlines. They are also helping with services such as stand assembly or catering.

“We fully understand that companies are facing difficult times due to the current crisis and are looking for a more flexible contract in their booking conditions. That is why our sales teams are in contact with our exhibitors, answering any questions and sharing all important updates regarding WTM,” said a spokeswoman consulted by the aforementioned media.

“Now, more than ever, WTM London will be very important in restarting the global travel and tourism industry,” said Simon Press, WTM Senior Exhibition Director.

In 2019, the event brought together 5,000 exhibitors from 182 countries and more than 51,000 participants, with over one million meetings taking place. Organisers have refused to disclose to TravelMole whether it will downscale the event in 2020 to ensure distance between attendees. Nor have they confirmed whether they will offer flexible cancellation options for exhibitors.

Other events for that month, cancelled

The mistrust of some exhibitors who fear they will lose their money if the fair is finally cancelled, the announcement of some stands from the United States who have announced that they will not be attending and the fact that other meetings scheduled for November such as the delivery of the British Travel Awards have been replaced by virtual formats, makes that there are still doubts about the celebration of this edition although the organizers of the World Travel Market in London continue to insist that the great travel fair will be held next November with relative normality despite the pandemic.
