Axencia de Turismo de Galicia

Throughout the month of March camellias and wines will be the protagonists of the promotional campaign that Tourism of Galicia has launched in the national territory. The first stop of this initiative was in Andalusia, the third largest market in number of visitors to Galicia, with an increase of 9% this year. In its capital, the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, inaugurated the itinerant promotional campaign to be held throughout this month in the gourmet market Lonja del Barranco de Sevilla with the intention of promoting in national markets the tourism experience created with the union of the Camellia Route and the wineries that are part of the DO Rías Baixas. Thanks to this initiative, you will be able to taste a selection of wines from the Rías Baixas D. O., in a prominent place in the wine cellar of the enclosure, which is also decorated with a forest of wines and camellias. Wine tasting sessions are also planned and a tourist information point was set up in the Galician Community. This is a perfect example of what we offer in Galicia through the 12 parks and gardens of this itinerary, unique in Europe,”stressed the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, who stressed the importance of promoting unique products such as this that contribute to seasonalization and encourage short getaways in winter and spring, coinciding with the time of flowering camellia. It is a complete experience that we have been promoting for years because it allows us to know the Community better through our flavors, heritage and landscapes,”said Nava Castro, recalling the importance for markets such as Andalusia.
The Wines and Camelias campaign responds to the work of the Galician Government, included in the Tourism Strategy of Galicia 2020, to provide national and international markets with unique resources such as the Camellia Route. He arrives this year in Andalusia after the success of 2017, when he arrived in the Basque Country with more than 11,000 visitors.
