The Deputation of Lugo, the Provincial Association of Hostaleros de Lugo (APEHL), representatives of food companies, producer associations, Protected Geographical Indications and Denominations of Origin Lugo agreed to the creation of annual gastronomic days to enhance the Lugo gastronomy The forecast is to be organized for next April and have annual character, with the aim of boosting the activity of the service sector, by tasting in restaurants throughout the province of accredited products with quality seal.

All participating entities agreed to emphasize the fundamental role played by gastronomy and in the specific case of Lugo, the typical products of the province, which are a rising value and are intrinsically linked to the economy throughout the province. It is, in short, a further step by the Deputation of Lugo to use the gastronomic element and quality local products as tourist attractions to promote the province.

“Gastronomy is the key to development. In a territory where culture, tradition and diversity go hand in hand, gastronomy is an important factor in economic, social, tourist and cultural promotion,” stressed the Provincial Council. Among the objectives of these gastronomic days is also the deseasonalization of products, as a further incentive that contributes to generating wealth in the province. The aim is to give continuity to the promotion of products outside the production periods themselves.
