Profitable commercial mission of the Cluster to the WTM in London

  • The Galician companies traveling to England held more tan a hundred meetings in order to promote their products and the Galicia destination.
  • The international fair had the participation of 4,560 qualified buyers and 29,077 previously agreed meetings were held.

 

The commercial mission of the Galician Tourism Cluster to the World Travel Market in London concludes with a good number of professional meetings, with more than a hundred meetings and new contacts made. The international fair was held in London between November 5 and 7 at the ExCeL exhibition centre.

 

Galicia was one of the communities that was integrated into the Turespaña stand, where the Galicia Tourism Agency had a promotional space, in which it in turn reserved a meeting area that the Galicia Tourism Cluster made available to the participants in the commercial mission of this fair, one of the most important events on the international calendar.

 

The president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal; the vice president, Jesús Picallo; the treasurer, Alfonso Martínez; and the member, Francisco González, led this mission made up of a dozen companies and entities: Tee Travel, Mega Mundo Estrella Galicia, Carris Hoteles, Hotel Carlos I, Pilgrim Travel, Artnatura Galicia, Viajes Interrías, Oca Hotels, Viajes Camino de Santiago and Hotel Pazo de los Escudos.

 

The opening day allowed them to exchange impressions with the top officials of the Spanish delegation: the Minister of Tourism, Héctor Gómez, and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo. In addition to this, they were able to talk with the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de lana Torre Prados.

 

The director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Xosé Manuel Merelles, pointed out the importance of this market segment, which this year reached the best data since records have been recorded. English is the fifth most important international market for Galicia, with hotel demand that is growing especially outside of the high season.
