More than 350 initiatives distributed throughout the Galician territory will receive funding through the O Teu Xacobeo program.

The Xunta extended aid for this program after the success of applications

O teu Xacobeo will make it possible to promote 352 dynamisation initiatives in more than a hundred town councils throughout Galicia, after doubling the budget earmarked for this programme, which has gone from 2 to 4.7 million euros and which will make it possible to mobilise nearly nine million euros throughout the territory throughout 2019 and until April 2020.

The Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Román Rodríguez, underlined the “great reception” of this initiative, promoted with the aim of involving and encouraging the participation of all the agents of society in the design of the next Xacobeo 21. In fact, Román Rodríguez pointed out that a total of 652 proposals were received in the three open help lines that cover a total of five areas: the artistic field, heritage-history-thought-spirituality, gastronomy, sports and social fields.

In the case of the first line of aid, for projects formulated by local entities (Galician municipalities, associations, local consortiums or councils), a total of 80 projects will be promoted with an investment of nearly one million euros. Most of these initiatives will mobilize local resources, encourage innovation and the use of ICTs and will place special emphasis on the promotion of Galician artists or creators.

The second of the lines will favour the implementation of 89 initiatives proposed by SMEs and individuals in which around 1.5 million euros will be invested in projects focused on rural development, the promotion of emerging talent or the promotion of equality. Finally, the third of the lines will allow 183 proposals from public or private non-profit organizations to start and will have a budget of 2 million euros. “We are confident that this initiative will lay the foundations of a Xacobeo that feel as their own each and every Galician,” stressed Román Rodríguez.
