The Green Spain tourism brand incorporates more than 100 Galician companies and 6 protected areas to the new ecotourism route in the north of the peninsula

  • 331 tourism companies from Galicia, Asturias, Euskadi and Cantabria are participating, where activities such as wildlife observation and active tourism, among others, can be carried out
  • The new route will be ready next year

 

Xosé Merelles, the director of Tourism of Galicia, participated in the Monitoring Commission of the Green Spain brand, coordinated this year by the Galician community.

 

At this meeting, the status of the Green Spain Ecotourism Corridor was reviewed, a great route that will cross the main places of interest in the north of Spain, and with which it is intended to create the largest ecotourism route in Europe.

 

Currently, there are 331 local tourism companies located in the 25 protected areas of the 4 autonomous communities: Galicia, Asturias, Euskadi and Cantabria.

And of these companies, 114 are Galician, located in 6 protected areas: Mariñas Coruñesas Biosphere Reserve – Terras do Mandeo, National Maritime-Terrestre Park of the Atlantic Islands, Ribeira Sacra Biosphere Reserve and Serras do Orobio e do Courel, Xeoparque Montañas do Courel, Os Ancares Lucenses e Montes de Cervantes Biosphere Reserve, Navia e Becerreá and Río Eo, Oscos and Terras do Burón Biosphere Reserve.

 

The companies are in the phase of finalizing the products that will be part of this great route, with activities linked to the observation of fauna or activities related to active tourism, among other options.
