The Cluster maintains its commitment to the internationalization of the destination by meeting with the management staff of the OETs of the priority markets

  • During the celebration of the international tourism fair, Fitur 2024, the Cluster met with the people responsible for various Spanish Tourism Offices.

The presentations are the most visible events at FITUR, but the international tourism fair also functions as an important meeting and meeting point for professionals in the tourism sector from different territories and countries. The Galicia Tourism Cluster maintains its commitment to the internationalization of the Galicia destination. Within the framework of this fair, meetings were held with the management staff of the international Spanish Tourist Offices. These meetings made it possible to highlight the actions carried out by the Galician Tourism Cluster at an international level and to address those actions and/or fairs that may be of interest to the Galician tourism sector in each of the destinations.

In total, there were five meetings held with directors of the OTS. One of them was with the director of the OTS of Toronto, Bárbara Couto María, to study the Canadian market. The team also met with the director of the Miami OTS, Elvira Marcos Salazar, highlighting the importance of the United States market, and analyzing the sector’s participation in the Spain Tourism Summit, an event organized by Turespaña. Within the same market, a meeting also took place with the head of the OTS of Chicago, Ángela Castaño Cabanas, with an eye on the MAST of Chicago, an event in which the sector participated last 2023. Another meeting was with the head of the Tokyo OTS, Jaime Alejandre Martínez, focused on the tourism support conferences that will take place in Seoul and Tokyo for the Japanese and Taiwanese markets. Finally, the technical team also spoke with the head of the OTS in Berlin, Álvaro Blanco Volmer, highlighting the commercial mission of the CTG to the ITB Berlin.

There was also time to meet with Turespaña officials, studying possible cooperation campaigns similar to the promotion of the ‘Galicia Sustainable Destination’ brand in the North American market, carried out last 2023 with Expedia, bringing Galician sustainable experiences closer to the United States.

Catalogs

During the different meetings, the Cluster team presented two catalogues: ‘Galicia Travel Agencies’, with the presence of almost 25 Galician travel agencies, and ‘Galicia. A luxury for your senses‘, with the presence of various travel agencies, accommodation, food and wine establishments and complementary premium tourism activities. The documents were very well received during the fair, and were highlighted by many professionals as “very interesting.”

The incorporation of new entities in these documents, under various admission criteria, remains open. For more information you can consult by email secretariatecnica@clusterturismogalicia.com or by phone 881 247 436.
