• Tourists from Belgium and the Netherlands stand out for their commitment to sustainability during their visits to Spain.

More and more travelers are concerned about the ecological impact of their vacations. According to a recent Cepsa Energy Insight report, 40% of tourists already take environmental impact into account when planning their trips, and 74% say it is crucial to reduce their ecological footprint while traveling.

This interest in more conscious and responsible tourism is becoming an unstoppable trend. More than half of travelers, 53%, are already looking for accommodation that, in addition to offering comfort, incorporates sustainable and innovative practices. Tourists are also committed to supporting local economies: 88% of those surveyed said they prefer to consume local products and reduce waste during their vacation, reflecting a growing commitment to sustainability.

This change in traveler preferences could transform the tourism model in Spain towards one that is more respectful of the environment.

European tourists, the most committed

Among the tourists most aware of sustainability, Belgian and Dutch travelers stand out, who lead the commitment to respect for the environment during their visits to Spain. This group of tourists is characterized by seeking experiences that minimize their environmental impact and promote the protection of the environment. Their example reinforces the need for more destinations to adopt sustainable practices that can attract this type of visitor, whose number continues to increase.

Responsible tourism, increasingly in demand, promises not only to conserve the natural environment, but also to redefine the future of the sector in Spain, directing it towards sustainability and respect for local ecosystems.
