Almost half a thousand tourist establishments and travel agencies have already signed up to the new call for applications.

The new call for applications for the #QuedamosenGalicia22 Tourist Vouchers launched by the Galician Tourism Agency in collaboration with the Cluster is already underway. At midnight on Sunday 20 to Monday 21 March, the deadline for users to apply for the campaign’s wallet cards opens, with the aim of making use of them in tourist establishments (accommodation and travel agencies) that have joined this successful initiative launched for the first time in 2020 to deal with the consequences of the covid pandemic.

As established in the rules of the call published on Friday 18 in the official gazette of Galicia, people registered in Galicia over 18 years old who have not benefited from the vouchers of the previous campaign #QuedamosenGalicia21 can apply for the tourist voucher.

There will be cards for 500, 375 and 250 euros, of which the Xunta will contribute 200, 150 and 100 euros, respectively, and the rest will have to be paid by the beneficiary. The period to make use of these vouchers will be open until 31 December this year, except during the period between 1 July and 15 September as this is the high season for the tourist sector. This limitation responds to the objective that the voucher contributes to the deseasonalisation of tourism activity by encouraging the use of its services outside the periods of greatest demand.

The deadline to apply for the vouchers by users will open at 00.00 hours on 21 March and if the great reception of the previous edition is repeated, it is expected that they will be sold out in a few hours. . In principle, the Xunta will allocate 1.5 million euros to the campaign, so that the distribution of vouchers will conclude once that limit has been reached. But the rules of the call do not rule out that this amount can be increased in the future if there is budget availability.

Tourist establishments are still open to join

Nearly half a thousand tourist establishments have signed up to this new call to offer users a wide range of services including accommodation in hotels, spas, paradors, rural tourism, flats, hostels, campsites and tourist homes, as well as packages and experiences in hiking, spas and gastronomy, among others.

The deadline for joining the campaign will remain open until 1 December.
