The Termatalia Week positions Ourense as an international centre for training and business in health tourism

As part of Termatalia, which will be held in Ourense on 19 and 20 September as a thermal bridge between continents and event of health interest, according to the recent recognition by the Xunta de Galicia, Expourense continues to enrich the International Fair of Thermal Tourism, Health and Well-being with a series of scientific and academic programs grouped under the so-called “Thermatalia Week” to be held between 17 and 21 September.

The objective of these meetings is to turn Ourense into the world epicentre of the knowledge and the formation specialized in tourism of health hosting three important international events: the “International Congress on Thermalism 2021-2027”, that will take place the 17 of September, organized by the project “Raia Termal” in the Spas of Lobios with the leadership of the Diputación Provincial de Ourense, the Hydrographic Confederation Miño-Sil and the thermal cross-border municipalities of Terras de Bouro and Melgaço and financed with Funds Interrreg of the European Union.

The other professional meeting of the week will be the III edition of the Symposium on Thermalism and Quality of Life led by the Water Campus of the University of Vigo, which will be held in Expourense on 18 and 19 September. It is an open and interactive international forum, in which researchers and professionals from the thermal sector debate and reflect on scientific works on water, health and wellbeing, tourism and technological innovation; they also receive practical training through workshops on health, wellbeing and technology. This Symposium has received more than 60 scientific papers from researchers from both Europe and Latin America.

This week will conclude with the fair itself, on 19 and 20 September, whose academic programme includes the 14th International Meeting on Water and Health with the participation of 35 speakers from 13 countries, including a scientific session on Medical Hydrology and another on Tourism, Innovation and Sustainability. All these events are the result of inter-institutional cooperation and the participation of experts from 30 countries has been confirmed, as well as the attendance of university students from careers such as Medicine or Professional Training cycles related to health and wellbeing. The final objective is to continue contributing to the development of the sector positioning Ourense capital, province and Galicia in general as international centers of thermal training.
