Last week, the Reveriano Soutullo Auditorium in Ponteareas hosted the presentation of the training program “Smart Tourism: AI Tools for Sector Transformation,” an initiative promoted by the Galicia Tourism Cluster, the Pontevedra Provincial Council, and the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia-Axencia Turismo de Galicia).
The event brought together numerous Galician tourism professionals and experts in technology and innovation, who shared their vision on how artificial intelligence can boost the competitiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of tourism.
The opening remarks were delivered by Nava Castro, Mayor of Ponteareas; Romina Fernández, Director of Tourism for the Pontevedra Provincial Council; and Cesáreo Pardal, President of the Galicia Tourism Cluster. The closing was chaired by the director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Xosé Manuel Merelles, and the president of the Pontevedra Deputation, Luis López.
During the event, professionals from leading organizations in innovation and digital transformation participated, including José Antonio Cano (Crowe Spain), Joaquim Morera (deepsense), Raquel Lorenzo (Cloud District), Raúl García (Neuromobile), Anxo Varela (University of Santiago de Compostela), Susana García (author of “AI from Scratch”), Juan Aís (designer and anthropologist), and Irlui Ramírez (of Consultores Hoteleros Integrales).
The event served to highlight the importance of incorporating AI into tourism management and to foster a real digital transformation within the Galician business sector, from customer service and marketing to process automation and data interpretation.
Following the success of this inaugural event, the “Smart Tourism: AI Tools for Sector Transformation” program will continue with four in-person training sessions: November 26, November 27, December 17, and December 18. These workshops focus on the practical application of digital tools and artificial intelligence to tourism.
Space is limited (20 participants), and registration is now open via this form.
