More than fifty accommodations will improve their facilities through public investment of almost one million euros

The beneficiaries of the line of aid for Culture and Tourism of the Xunta undertake actions to raise the current category of establishments, modernization of their facilities, beautification and upgrading of equipment

Continuing with the established objective of improving the competitiveness of the Galician tourism sector, the Xunta de Galicia will invest almost one million euros in the improvement of tourist accommodations, within the framework of the line of aid, on a competitive basis, intended for private entities for actions to improve this type of tourist infrastructure that was launched for the first time at the beginning of this year and which is now published the list of aid granted.

In fact, the initial budget of this call, whose resolution can be consulted in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG), was expanded to meet the applications submitted, covering up to 35% of the amount, with a maximum of 35,000 euros for each of the beneficiary entities. With it, Culture and Tourism seeks to consolidate Galicia as an excellent and more welcoming destination, as stated in the Galicia 2020 Tourism Strategy. With a budgetary credit of 991,552 euros, the Galician Government approved a total of 54 aids that optimize the quality of the accommodation offer.

Main improvements

Through these incentives, it is ensured that those responsible for beneficiary businesses carry out the necessary refurbishments for the development of their activity, with the highest standards of quality in the services provided. Among other actions, those aimed at improving accessibility conditions and removing barriers are contemplated, thus deepening the commitments of the Tourism Accessibility Plan and the Camino de Santiago promoted by the Galician Government. The order also favours the obtaining of quality certifications, extending the leadership of our Community in the ranking of the Q of Tourist Quality, with almost 20% of the establishments recognized in Spain.

It also includes projects to raise the classification of the establishment, which means an increase in the category in which it is currently; air conditioning actions that promote sustainability with energy saving measures; renovation work and modernization of facilities, as well as aimed at beautifying the environment, and finally, renovation of furniture equipment necessary for the operation of the establishment.
