The Galician Tourism Council approved the declaration of Muíños as a tourist municipality in the extraordinary session held in Santiago de Compostela last week. The municipality had started the process five years ago with the aim of increasing the promotion of its cultural, sports and heritage resources.
The town in Orense is part of the Gerês-Xurés Biosphere Reserve and the Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés Natural Park, two territories with a powerful natural wealth and a great sustainable tourist offer. The recreational area of the Outeiro de Cela Natural Park is one of its tourist attractions with an area of 26 hectares, two river beaches, and a wooded area.
In addition to this, last Monday the declaration of the festival of San Antonio Ventureiro da Rigueira, in the municipality of Xove, as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia was also approved. This pilgrimage is held every June 13, coinciding with the festival that commemorates the death of San Antonio de Padua. Hundreds of people visit the parish of A Rigueira every year to participate in this historic pilgrimage.
