Representatives of provincial agri-food tourism, tourist agents, producers, guides, communication experts, hoteliers… were present at the first Conference on Agri-food Tourism held by the County Council of Lugo with the aim of promoting this type of tourism in the province. The initiative is framed within the Strategic Plan of Tourism of the province, and had the participation of responsible for successful projects related to this sector as the Instituto Galego do Viño, Milhulloa, Champivil, Caurelor, Suarna sausages or the CRDO Queixo do Cebreiro, in addition to tourism companies such as I´m a Local and Ponle cara al turismo, which addressed new tourism opportunities as an alternative to rural development.

As explained by the president of the County Council of Lugo, Darío Campos, the entity seeks to contribute to “add value to projects related to the agri-food sector, which is currently being carried out so successfully in the province, and at the same time we value our first quality raw material.

In this way the County Council takes the first steps to try to develop an alternative tourism offer, focused on products and linked to the landscape of the province, from the quality products offered by the primary sector and the successful experiences of entrepreneurs who decidedly bet on this sector. The day was completed with a visit to the ‘Ruta da Faba de Lourenzá’.
