The Xunta and the Galician Thermal Spa Association have extended the tourist programme developed in summer.
The good reception obtained by the “Thermal Summer” programme launched last summer by the Xunta de Galicia, through Turismo de Galicia, and the Galician Thermal Spa Association has encouraged those responsible to extend it between 1 October and 28 November. The “Thermal Autumn” has been created with the intention of supporting a sector that has been hard hit by the pandemic and to help alleviate the loss of activity caused by the stoppage of Imserso trips, which had planned to market more than 4,000 accommodation places in Galician spas.
The “Thermal Autumn” will make it possible to market a total of 709 places in 12 establishments in the four provinces for stays of 10 days and 9 nights aimed at Galician pensioners or residents in Galicia. These packages include therapeutic treatments under medical prescription.
The Carballo and Compostela spas, in the province of A Coruña; the Lugo-Termas Romanas Spa and the Iberik Augas Santas Balneario & Golf, in the province of Lugo; those of A Arnoia, Laias and the Gran Balneario de O Carballiño (with accommodation at the Hotel Derby or the Hotel Lorenzo), in Ourense, and the Acuña (Caldas de Reis), Dávila, Caldelas de Tui, Mondariz and Termas de Cuntis spas, in Pontevedra, are the 13 establishments that will participate in this campaign.
The initiative was presented in the spa of A Arnoia with an act in which the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, and the president of the Galician Thermal Spa Association, Marisol Espiño, took part. Castro explained that the Thermal Autumn will mean an economic contribution of the Xunta to the sector of 75,000 euros, which is added to the 100,000 euros already invested in the Thermal Summer and which resulted in the commercialisation of the 800 places offered. In addition, the regional government is promoting activity in spas through the Choose Galicia programme, which has already led to the marketing of a further 1,500 places in these establishments.
