Travellers and overnight stays in August grow 5% on average in Galicia, now exceeding 3 million visitors in the first 8 months of the year

Our community is the fastest growing among domestic passengers, 5.8% more overnight stays

Galicians hotel establishments received a total of 711,490 passengers, 5.2% more than in the same period last year during the month of August. Similar growth of 5.4% recorded in the number of overnights, which exceeded the million and a half, according to data published by the INE. Failing to collect the data for travelers and overnight stays registered in all other types of accommodation (rural tourism establishments, tourist apartments, hostels and campsites), Galicia has already exceeded 3 million passengers in all 8 first months of the year.

INE survey also reflects that Galicia has been the autonomous community that has grown in number of overnight stays among domestic tourists, who have chosen our community as 4th favorite destination after Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia. The average occupancy level recorded during the month of August in Galicia has been at 64%, compared to the national average, which was 78%.
Mild price growth
In Spain as a whole, the annual rate of Hotel Price Index (HPI) stood at 6.9% in August, which is 0.6 points lower than last month and 1.9 points above the registered a year ago. In the case of Galicia HPI, statistic that measures the evolution of all applied by employers to individual guests staying in hotel prices, it stood at 96.5 euros, 3.3% more than in 2015.
As for the profitability indicators of the sector, the ADR (Average Daily Rate) and RevPAR (average revenue per available room) rates, Galicia advances a seventh position and stands by the tail, with a growth rate of 0.9 in daily average, which stands at 64.7 euros while RevPAR stands at 42.2 euros, with an annual variation of 5.3.
