Valdeorras, sustainable tourist destination

  • The objective of the collaboration agreement between the Xunta de Galicia and the GDR Valdeorras association is to attract sustainable tourism to the nine municipalities of the region.

The Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan has a budget of €1.5M for O Barco de Valdeorras, A Rúa, A Veiga, O Bolo, Petín, Vilamartín de Valdeorras, Rubía, Larouco and Carballeda de Valdeorras, to be executed until 2025.

This strategy will include measures to encourage the implementation of digitalization tools that promote the region’s wine route, industrial tourism or its network of viewpoints.

All of these actions are contemplated in the Galician Territorial Food and Wine Tourism Sustainability Plan, launched in 2023 with an investment of €34.5M.This plan includes transversal measures aimed at the tourism sector, such as the adaptation of wine and food production establishments, aid for beautification or promotion of sustainable mobility.

There are 13 Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans underway, such as the one in Valdeorras, from which 80 municipalities in Galicia will benefit.
