Turismo de Galicia and FEGATUR collaborate in the promotion of rural tourism and the digital marketing of rural accommodation in Galicia

  • The entities signed a collaboration agreement to promote this type of tourism.

The director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, and the president of the Galician Federation of Rural Tourism (FEGATUR), Francisco Xabier Almuíña Chorén, presented last week, at Casa das Xacias (Chantada), the joint actions to promote rural tourism and the digital marketing of rural accommodation in Galicia. The president of the Galician Tourism Cluster (CTG), Cesáreo Pardal, participated in the event; the mayor of the Chantada Council, Manuel Lorenzo Varela; and the manager of Casa das Xacias, Jacobo Lorenzo.

The agreement signed between Turismo de Galicia and FEGATUR, with an investment of 120,000 euros by the Xunta, focuses on three strategic axes: promoting the consumption of rural tourism, providing training and promoting the digital marketing of experiences and accommodations.

Initiatives such as “O valor gives rural experience”, which includes “Knowledge, feelings and flavors”, “Galicia, Sustainable Rural Tourism” and “Wellness to be good”, will focus on highlighting the connection between rural accommodation and wine tourism, the health, well-being, culture and heritage. In addition, the agreement includes training programs such as “Ollando o Rural tourism canda a quen vivir e saber del”, designed to improve the professionalization of rural accommodation owners. The digital marketing of these experiences and accommodations will be carried out through the galiciaturismorural.es platform, complemented by more traditional promotional actions.

During his speech, the president of the CTG highlighted the importance of rural tourism in Galicia, one of the strongholds of our tourism offer. Pardal pointed out that “rural tourism boosts local development and creates employment due to its complementarity with other economic activities supported, mainly, by microenterprises and SMEs.” He also highlighted the work of Casa das Xacias, one of the more than 100 companies that are part of the ‘Galicia Sustainable Destination’ initiative, launched from the Cluster with the collaboration of the Xunta de Galicia.
