Trevinca-Valdeorras strengthens its commitment to sustainable tourism with 21 new eco-experiences driven by the local community

The Trevinca-Valdeorras geodestination is reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable tourism model with a strong local identity through the launch of the Ecoexperiencias Trevinca-Valdeorras, an innovative initiative created from within the territory. This network includes 21 responsible tourism experiences, designed by 14 local agents—including businesses, associations, and entrepreneurs—highlighting the region’s natural, cultural, and gastronomic heritage and positioning it as a driving force for conscious and high-quality tourism.

This diverse set of 21 unique experiences is the result of collaborative work among 14 local entities, supported by Turismo de Galicia through Inorde. The experiences are aligned with sustainability principles and a deep respect for the rural environment. Each one tells its own story, and the full offering can be explored at www.ecoexperienciastrevincavaldeorras.com.

The project is part of a collaboration agreement between the geodestination and Turismo de Galicia and is in line with the Tourism Strategy 2030, which promotes an authentic tourism model rooted in local identity, aimed at reducing seasonality and enhancing the value of rural areas as strategic assets.

During the official presentation, the Director of Turismo de Galicia, Xosé Merelles, emphasized the importance of these initiatives as a driver for local revitalization. He also highlighted the more than €2.8 million invested by the Xunta de Galicia in recent years to strengthen the geodestination’s tourism offerings.

Trevinca-Valdeorras is also one of 13 Galician regions included in the Territorial Plan for Sustainable Wine and Gastronomy Tourism, co-financed by the European Union. The plan allocates an additional €1.5 million to this region to further develop its winemaking and cultural identity.
