The seven representatives of London golf clubs that visited Galicia last week highlighted the success of the combination of golf, thermal and gastronomic offer.

The goal is to give continuity to Celtic Spain Golf & Wellness in 2019, expanding international markets and even presenting the initiative in Fitur

Concluded the fam trip with those responsible for the main golf clubs from London to Galicia that was held last week, the initiative Celtic Spain Golf & Wellness concludes its first year of life with good feelings and the conviction that it is necessary to give continuity to this type of action, which allow both the packaging of the Galician tourist offer specialized, combining the sport of golf with the offer of accommodation and Galician thermal, as the attraction of a foreign tourist with greater purchasing power, as is the case of golf players, whose average expenditure is higher than that of the conventional British tourist.

“It should be borne in mind that these prescriptors have visited us, and represent more than 4.000 London golfers, annually organize for their customers 2 golf trips outside the British Isles, usually to Andalusia, Algarve, Levante Spanish,” explains the secretary general of the Association Galicia Golf Destination, Javier de la Cerda, who highlights the high satisfaction expressed by the seven prescribers, who have had the opportunity to perceive the quality of hotels, golf courses, spas they have visited and, of course the cuisine, landscape, culture and price / quality of the Galician tourist offer.

Continuity and presence at FITUR

The initiative CELTIC SPAIN GOLF & WELLNESS, promoted in the framework of the competition of ideas of the Cluster Tourism of Galicia to proposal of the Association Galicia Golf Destination, Association Spas of Galicia, Oca Hotels and Hotel Carlos I, with the collaboration of Tourism of Galicia, thus wants to maintain its continuity in 2019.

“We believe that the effort that is being made by the Association Galicia Golf Destination, with the support of the Tourism Cluster to market Galicia as a different golf destination is giving its results,” explains Javier de la Cerda, who highlights the recent visit of 40 players from Uruguay who for a week played on 4 courses in Galicia, with the average daily expenditure per player of € 348, of which golf accounted for 21% of that expenditure.

That is why the Association believes that it will be very important to give continuity to these actions, increasing the number of prescribers and origin and even present this proposal in Fitur, as a visualization platform of the proposal for the national and international market.
