The Department of Culture and Tourism supports training in the field of thermal health through an agreement of 40,000 euros per year signed until 2021 with the Chair in Medical Hydrology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, a training initiative that will strengthen the promotion and research in this field and improve the quality of services with which travelers are interested in activities related to welfare and health.
“With this support we promote the sector of the thermal health in Galicia with a formation of excellence”, indicated Nava Castro, Director of Tourism of Galicia. She did it during the presentation of a summer course in which the mentioned chair participates, in the locality of Oia.
This support enters inside the Plan of Thermal Tourism and in the Plan of Tourism of Health and Thermal of Galicia that has as objectives the increase of the capacity of lodging of some spas, the improvement in the signposting of the thermal villas and the attraction of visitors interested in these resources and in the health.
Nava Castro also took the opportunity to highlight that Galicia is the second European region with the greatest wealth in mineral and thermal waters, with great tourist potential. “In addition, it counts on the first law of Spain that regulates the recreational use of the thermal waters”, he informed.
The director of Tourism of Galicia showed the bet of the Xunta by the tourism of well-being and the necessity of collaboration between spas, thalassos, medical centers, travel agencies, prescribers and administration.
