The initiative is part of the agreement signed by AGAVI and the Xunta de Galicia, within the Reactivation Plan of the tourist sector

Some twenty professionals from the main travel agencies in Spain and the leading companies in the sector, as well as the president and vice-president of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agents’ Associations (CEAV) are visiting Galicia these days on a familiarisation trip promoted by the Association of Travel Agents in Galicia (Agavi) and the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia) with the aim of getting to know the destination and being able to sell tourist packages in Galicia specialising in food and wine that contribute to revitalising the sector in the current health context.

Within the framework of the actions set out in the Autonomous Government’s Plan for the Reactivation of the Tourism Sector, which includes a collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Government and Agavi, the participating professionals will visit outstanding tourist sites in the four provinces, promoting the Galician community as a safe and quality destination that offers guarantees for travellers, workers and the Galicians themselves.

A Coruña, Santiago, Fisterra and Muxía were the first stops of a press trip that ends on Sunday in Vigo and that will also take them to Lugo to get to know some resources linked to Galician food and wine, especially associated with the Cheese and Honey Route, and the Ribeira Sacra, the city of Ourense or Pontevedra, as well as the wine territories in the O Ribeiro Denomination of Origin. They will also get to know the Galician coast, with visits to marine villages such as Baiona, Combarro, Cambados, Sanxenxo or the Cíes Islands and the Ons Islands, not forgetting Costa da Morte and other resources linked to the Way of St. James.

Civitatis, Mapa Tours, Nautalia Viajes, El Corte Inglés, the GEA group, Viajes Temps D’Oci, Avantours, the Renascitour association and Viajes Kontiki are the participating agencies, as well as members of travel associations in Valencia, Seville, Castile and Leon, and the president and vice-president of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agency Associations (CEAV), which brings together more than 5,000 travel agencies, both retail and wholesale, and has 9,000 points of sale. The group also includes travel agents specializing in international markets such as Russia, as well as journalists specializing in tourism.

The trip includes the possibility of getting to know some of the main tourist resources, especially related to Galician food and wine, but also to nature, heritage or the Way of Saint James.
The familiarisation trip is part of the commitment of the Galician Government to the Galicia Destination for Safe programme, which already has a global budget of 8 million euros to promote our community as a reliable and quality destination, promoting the values that characterise the Galician tourism model, which are particularly important in the current context, such as nature, landscape, food and wine or the Way of St. James.
