Turismo de Galicia

The Sectoral Commission on Tourism held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in Madrid approved the creation of a specific working group on tourism in which all Spanish autonomous communities are represented and which will focus on the preparation of Xacobeo 2021.

The meeting also approved the approved tourist signaling system (SISTHO), which includes the cycle route Eurovelo as it passes through Galicia and reported on the Spanish tourist situation and the convenience of carrying out measures to implement the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development in the tourism field.

In the Sectoral Commission on Tourism, which was attended by directors and secretaries general of tourism from different Spanish autonomous communities among which was present the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, also addressed issues such as the regulations of housing for tourist use in Galicia are being regulated effectively through the decree in force since 2017, which is protecting users and entrepreneurs from professional intrusion and ensuring the coexistence of uses in the more than 7,700 homes registered. The festivals of national and international tourist interest or the consequences of Brexit in the Spanish tourist market were other of the issues addressed at the meeting.

The creation of this working group is in line with the objective of the Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which is moving forward so that the entire State can be involved in the organisation of this event. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has also been asked that the Jacobean Council, in which up to now the communities through which the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago passes are represented, also open itself to the participation of the entire Spanish territory so that it can get involved in the celebration of the Holy Year.
