Tren Turístico

The seventh edition of the Tourist Trains of Galicia is having a great reception among passengers. This year the main novelty is the Route of the Roads of Santiago, with which a total of twelve routes are added to discover Galicia in a different way.

This bet to leave aside the car to know our natural patrimony, the pazos and gardens, the viticulture or the medieval history of Galicia, always accompanied by a specialized guide, did that the tourist trains obtained an occupation superior to 94% in the month of June.

In the case of the Route of the Roads of Santiago, its first departure had 100% occupation, thus confirming the success of this tourist product promoted by the Xunta in collaboration with Renfe and the Institute of Economic Development Ourensano (Inorde).

In the antechamber of Xacobeo 21, this route was incorporated that allows to discover great part of the Galician patrimony through different sections of the French, North, Primitive and English Way. Leaving the city of A Coruña (English Way), the itinerary approaches the Mosteiro de Sobrado dos Monxes (North Way), the city of Lugo (Primitive Way) and the monastery of San Xulián de Samos (French Way), thus covering four of the ten Xacobean itineraries in Galicia. The next departure will not be until 28 September.

In addition to this new route, the seventh edition maintains the already known Route of the Lighthouses, Pazos and Historical Gardens of Galicia, Route of the Lamprea, the Route Ourense Termal and Galician Versailles.

Also present are the six tourist trains that run through the territories of each of the five appellations of wine: Monterrei, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra -both in the river Sil and in the Miño-, Ribeiro and Valdeorras, as well as the Route of Monasteries that, after last year’s success, doubles its departures in this edition.

New point of sale in Santiago

Tourist trains operate between June and October. The routes include train travel, guided tours and bus transfers and have a price per route of 45 euros for adults (with 15% discounts for groups of 10 or more adults) and 20 euros for children. Tickets can be purchased through Renfe’s website and, as a novelty, a physical ticketing point was also set up this year at the Renfe office in San Martiño Pinario. The maps of the routes and the calendar of departures can be found on the website of Turismo de Galicia.
