The beneficiaries will have access to up to 150,000 euros to create or consolidate tourism products, deepen training in the sector, improve the implementation of technologies, advance in its internationalization or increase its promotion

The new call for grants to promote tourism activity in Galician geodestinations is now open. Endowed with more than 1 million euros, the aim of the new aid promoted by the Xunta de Galicia is that the whole Galician territory can benefit from this boost in tourism activity, as a prelude to Xacobeo 2021. This call also modifies the relationship of subsidies with geodestines that until now obtained funds through the signing of agreements with the Xunta.

The new order of subsidies is aimed at associations, local consortiums with competence in the field of tourism, groups of town councils, Rural Development Groups (GoR) or legally constituted associations that have hired technical tourism staff dedicated to the monitoring and coordination of the actions covered by this order.

The beneficiaries will be able to obtain maximum aid in the different categories of between 30,000 and 150,000 euros for the tourist dinamization of their territories through actions that deepen in the planning, creation and consolidation of tourist products in the geodestination; the commercialization, promotion and diffusion of the tourist product, formation directed to the tourist sector or new technologies applied to the tourism. The actions must be carried out between 1 January and 30 November 2020.

Promotion of the Galician countryside
The call will be made on a competitive basis. The Xunta will be able to cover between 50% and 90% of the eligible investment based on the criteria established in the bases in which, among other aspects, it will be assessed that the products presented have an impact on seasonality, that they make an accessible offer, aimed at families or senior citizens or that they deepen innovation.

The final objective of this aid is none other than to continue to increase the diversification of supply and to ensure that tourism activity stimulates local economies, helps to enhance the value of natural, cultural and ethnographic resources and is an effective instrument for restoring territorial balance, especially in rural Galicia.
