Magic sessions, family biking and accessible activities are some of the activities planned in the annual Wine Route of Rías Baixas program for this 2017, activities with which they hope to continue increasing the number of enotourists who opt for this itinerary. In 2016, there were more than 1500 people who participated in some of the activities organized by Wine Route of Rías Baixas. “These good results encourage us to continue innovating with different proposals that put in value the enogastronomy of our territory”, explained the president of the Route, Juan Gil de Araújo.
Magic, sport and astrotourism
For its part, the manager of the Route, Lorena Varela, detailed the program of activities planned for this 2017. “One of the main novelties of this year will be the Route of Illusion. This is a program, included within the Open Days of the Wine Routes of Galicia, in which we will offer two performances of Pedro Volta in associated wineries, “said the manager. This special program will also include a new session of the Route with Humor, which will be given by Quico Cadaval. Another of the great novelties of this year will be the Star Route, which will be developed during the summer. This initiative will include “a nocturnal visit to a winery associated with a subsequent observation of stars,” said the manager.
The proposal will also be offered as a family bike, which will take place in the municipality of As Neves and a new edition of the Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas mountain bike will be joined, which, this time, will be held in the Condado do Tea sub-area. In addition, two new routes will be offered to lovers of hiking.
Accessible Activities
Within the accessibility activities, a visit and tasting of wines signed with the purpose of bringing this group to enotourism has been organized jointly with the Association of Deaf People of Santiago de Compostela. “In addition, we are also preparing another initiative aimed at people with cerebral palsy,” said Lorena Varela.
Also as novelties of this 2017 are several visits to the Wine Route of Rías Baixas. Among them is the Fam Trip of the Wine Route of Montilla-Moriles, in addition to the course that the students of the Master of Tourism will carry out on 9 March. From Wine Route of Rías Baixas they will also make a familiarization trip to one of the Wine Routes of Spain in order to exchange experiences and expand their knowledge.
Specific programs already consolidated will be maintained for this year, such as the “Catas entre Amigos”, which began last Friday with a red Rías Baixas tasting in Santiago de Compostela; The Tasting for the International Women’s Day, which will take place on March 10 at 8:00 pm in the Pazo de Mugartegui and which already has all its full seats or the VI Cata Amateur Ruta do Viño Rías Baixas, a central event within The activities for the European Day of Wine Tourism. To this initiative will also be added the celebration of a new wine tasting by the Ría de Arousa on board a catamaran.
