A group of foreign journalists got to know first hand the quality and nautical sports activities of the Galician nautical clubs and the services they offer to all the boats that decide to moor in their pontoons.

The visit, organized by the Association of Nautical Clubs of Galicia (Asnauga) with the collaboration of Igape, was held this June with the aim of promoting tourism and water sports. Coming from England, France and Portugal, journalists specialized in the sector toured for four days, ten of the thirty clubs that belong to ASNAUGA.

Number of moorings available, access by sea and land, dry marina, dry docks for repairs, travel, catering offer, surveillance services, maritime connections, communications networks and gastronomy were just some of the aspects that most interested journalists to convey to their readers exact references when calling in Galicia. “The objective of the clubs is to promote tourism and sport, so that our prices are always very competitive,” explained the president of Asnauga, Javier Ruiz de Cortázar Díaz, who was responsible for hosting and guiding the foreign delegation to offer them a global vision of the infrastructure.

The visit is part of the promotion of nautical activities and sports, as well as the state-of-the-art facilities in the northern and central part of Galicia. From the Real Club Náutico de Ribadeo to the Club Náutico de Boiro, including the Club de Mar de Ferrol, Club Náutico Ría de Ares, Club Náutico de Sada, Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Club Náutico de Camariñas, Real Club Náutico de Portosín, Club Náutico Deportivo de Riveira, Club Náutico de Barraña (Boiro), Club Náutico de Boiro-Cabo de Cruz and Club Náutico de Rianxo, ending their visit by going up the river Ulla by boat, visiting Padrón and attending the awards ceremony of the Elidente regatta organised by Club Náutico de Rianxo.

Xacobean Nautical Crossing

Completing these activities of promotion of nautical tourism and Xacobeo, the entity also carried out the South Route of the Xacobean Nautical Journey with tour operators and journalists specialized in the Way of Santiago, starting from the Monte Real Club de yates de Baiona, and passing through Vigo, Cangas, Sanxenxo, Portonovo, San Vicente, Riveira, Vilanova and ending in Portosin, from where they made a stretch on foot to get the Compostela.
