They expect to improve the results of the first season by offering more number of navigable days and more options

Between July and November of this year the new season of the mini coastal cruises will be developed by the Rías de Galicia with the aim of overcoming the number of days of navigation and users of this differentiating and seasonalising tourism product, as defined by Manuel Soliño, representative of Agan + as a promoter of the initiative, which has the support of the Consellería do Mar, Portos de Galicia and Turismo de Galicia, as well as the marinas and municipalities in which ships are recalled, among other entities.

Thus, if last year were more than 1400 travelers this year, to occupy all the places, are expected to exceed 2,300, thanks also to the increase in frequencies, stopovers and number of routes for this second season. The project Minicruceiro coastal polas rías de Galicia was promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, through Portos de Galicia in collaboration with Turismo de Galicia and the Galician Association of Nautical Activities (AGAN) as an initiative that is part of the programs Nea 3 and Ecodestin_3IN, continuity of the Nea 2 program of the European Union. It actively participated in the Puertos de Galicia and created a series of navigation routes in the Rías Baixas in 2015, linking these routes to areas of tourist attraction such as culture, heritage and oenology.
On the other hand, the Ecodestin_3IN program has an investment close to 2 million euros and is part of the INTERREG Spain-Portugal 2014-2020 Program (POCTEP). It pursues the increase of the attraction of the territory through the fomentation and the development of the natural and cultural heritage linked to the estuaries, rivers and coast of the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion.

In this sense, the head of the Sea stressed Galician’s commitment to take advantage of all those economic and administrative levers such as the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, which allow us to advance in the vision of the sea as a tourist attraction. In this field, he emphasized that Galicia is part of the leading group at European level in the application of this tool.

Bet on nautical tourism

In the presentation of the new season were present, besides the conselleira of Mar, Ana Rosa Quintana, the holder of Portos de Galicia, José Juan Durán, the mayor of Sanxenxo, Telmo Martín, and the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro . The latter stressed that this type of initiatives are necessary for the Galician tourism sector as they represent an opportunity to boost the great potential of nautical tourism in Galicia by making our Community “a European reference in coastal cruises of land stopovers and being a Important spur to put into value the natural, gastronomic and cultural heritage of Galicia, “he said.

This year’s offer includes up to four different proposals with six routes by the Galician Rias by ferry-catamaran or by sailboat. These are the Minicruceiro coastal shoreline itineraries, of six days duration; Minicruceiro Coastal Sailing Route Xacobea Sea of Arousa, two days; and Minicruceiro Coastal Atlantic Islands and Maritime Villages by Ría de Vigo and Minicruceiro Coastal by Sailing Treasures of the Ría de Vigo, both of a day and with the possibility of choosing between two different routes by the Vigo estuary.

Aboard these mini-cruisers, visitors will be able to enjoy the marine tourism and to know, among many other resources, the National Park das Illas Atlánticas and even to remember the route that the remains of the Apostle Santiago followed by the estuary of Arousa. Those interested can obtain the information corresponding to the initiative, the itineraries, prices and days on the website.
