The Tourism Cluster of Galicia receive the Q Award for Tourism Quality granted by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) during the celebration of the edition of Fitur, which finished this Sunday in Madrid. This is one of the most important recognitions in the sector and its delivery take place during the gala of the Q 2020 Night, held at the Crystal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace, headquarters of the Madrid City Council. The Torremolinos City Council, the Costa del Sol Beach Business Association, the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and the Cabildo of Tenerife will also receive the award.

The objective of the awards is to recognize the effort made by institutions or individuals to promote the Q mark for Tourism Quality. In the case of the Galician Tourism Cluster, the ICTE presents this award to the CTG in recognition of the commitment of the Galician tourism business to the Q Quality Mark, with the active participation of the Cluster, in support of all actions around the Q that are promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and with the culmination of a significant number of certifications, which has made this Community the second in Spain in this aspect.

The president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, collected the award in a gala that will be presided over by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Oliver, and the president of the ICTE, Miguel Mirones, who said that with these awards, the Institute wants to emphasize once again the importance of public-private partnership, since it is recognizing both private and public entities that have committed to collaboration formulas to implement quality systems in their territories, promote the Q brand and increase the number of certifications.

The second community in the ranking
Galicia has 290 certifications, which places it in second place in the ranking, after Andalusia, which has a total of 330, and well ahead of Valencia, which has 196 such recognitions.

The largest number of certifications, a total of 79 (over 27%), were awarded to hotels and tourist apartments; behind them are restaurants (22%), tourist services intermediaries (15.5%) and rural accommodation (9.3%).

On the other hand, there are ten marinas that have the Q for Quality, a total of seven spas, six Tourist Information Offices, four campsites, three active tourism companies and another three for other services linked to the sector and two for tourist transport.
