Cooperation and coordination between territories and administrations was once again present at the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion Summit, held in Matosinhos, where the importance of betting on the Xacobean Route for the next Xacobeo 2021 was once again stressed. In this sense, the vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, stressed the importance of promoting joint tourism promotion and, especially, the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela, which is experiencing exponential growth in recent years, and cruise tourism.
Rueda took part in the Summit together with the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro; the Director General of Turespaña, Manuel Butler; the Director General of Foreign Affairs and European Union, Jesús Gamallo, and the Consul General of Spain in Oporto, Aleix Garau Montané. At this meeting, the Vice-President stressed the importance of cooperation, both at political level and between companies, to facilitate the coordination of investments in favour of the citizen. This coordination involves civil society, generating a climate of mutual trust that stimulates business and joint work. All these advantages, the vice-president said, are multiplied in the case of tourism.
In this sense, he bet on defending the joint brand’Two countries, one destination’ and improving international projection, public-private collaboration and adaptation to the new digital tourist. He stressed that this is the best time to focus on structuring the tourism offer, placing emphasis on the promotion of natural and cultural heritage, sustainable development and the use of information technologies.
