The Xunta de Galicia, together with the regional governments of the Green Spain communities, agreed to redirect the actions of this tourist brand from the north of the peninsula to the national market after the COVID-19 crisis. This was decided in a videoconference between the directors and vice-consellors of Tourism of Asturias, Cantabria, Euskadi and Galicia, represented by Nava Castro.
The meeting allowed them to jointly analyze the impact of the current health crisis in their respective territories and to articulate possible ways of joint collaboration under this tourism brand. The meeting addressed the various measures adopted by the four autonomous communities in collaboration with the sector and highlighted the opportunity it offers to Green Spain to the northern peninsula strip to work together and help boost the sector in the scenario of out of confinement.
In this regard, it was unanimously agreed to suspend international promotion until the end of the restrictions arising from this situation and focus all efforts on positioning the brand in the domestic market, for which it will rely on various online actions through promotional events and a new anthem by the composer Antonio Garamendi.
Adding to the Spain brand
The working group addressed the importance of a joint effort in health safety and the development of joint communication and promotional material was announced in the coming days. During this year 2020, Galicia is the community of Green Spain that is responsible for coordinating all activities of this tourist brand in the north of the peninsula.
