Xunta and AGAN put in place two coastal routes in April and May to contribute to the seasonal adjustment of tourism in Galicia

In order to continue working on the seasonal adjustment of the Galician tourism and especially attract foreigners to the coastal towns of Galicia, Portos de Galicia in collaboration with Turismo de Galicia and the Galician Association of Marine Activities (AGAN) tourists have launched the program “coastal cruises Galicia”, which will start operating on 15 April in the framework of the European Union Nea program. It is several mini-cruises of three to seven days with scales that allow to know in depth the Rias Baixas through organized packages similar to those developed in other countries.

 The initiative will have two different itineraries will flow through the estuaries of Vigo, Pontevedra and Arousa. The first, which begins this month, is “Treasures of the estuaries”, a voyage from Vigo to Vilagarcía of three days that will reveal points as the Cies Islands. This mini cruise will depart from the Club Nautico de Vigo to visit Rande, San Simon, Baiona, the Cies Islands, Sanxenxo, Ribadumia, San Vicente do Mar, Boiro, Vilanova de Arousa and Vilagarcía. One option that can be enjoyed in full or for individual days.

The second option, which will start from May, is called “Cruise Atlantic Islands and Villas Marineras”. Sanxenxo will stop in Pontevedra Illa de Ons, Bueu, Combarro, La Toja, Cambados, Ribeira, Vilanova de Arousa, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Vigo Illas Cies, Baiona, Rande and San Simon. It will be at sea for the first time on April 30.

Both routes include cultural visits and dissemination of the local cuisine of each port allowing, according to the president of AGAN, Manuel Soliño, offer 198 days of navigation which enjoy nearly 11,000 people who visit the Galician coast in three years initial duration of the project. The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, described the offer as “unha great opportunity for Protected or tourism” and as a form of seasonally adjusted tourism which augurs success because “non temos nothing to envexarlle years Norwegian fjords”.

Tours are conducted on a catamaran with capacity for 90 people or a sailboat for eight or ten. The cruises will be operated by shipping InterRías-Náutico cormorant, which will make the circuit Cruises estuaries and tidal platform, which will take care of Illas Atlantic. Reservations can be made through the web Nautic Destinantion or through travel agencies.
