The TSXG has already ratified the denial of the precautionary measure requested by the Provincial Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of A Coruña to suspend the opening limitations of the nightlife
The hotel industry in Compostela does not comply with the agreement with the Xunta either 

While the Compostela Hotel Association and the Association of Bars, Pubs and Discos of Santiago are not willing to assume the commitments made to the Xunta by the representatives of the sector in Galicia, which assumed the closure of nightlife as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of COVID19, the hotel and catering associations of Pontevedra, Lugo and Coruña also started their joint movements against the resolution of the Consellería de Sanidade approved last August 14th and which the professionals of this sector consider “disproportionate” and harmful to their interests. Therefore, among the first measures taken jointly by the provincial associations of Pontevedra, Lugo and A Coruña, was to file an appeal to suspend the application of the provisions that order the closure of nightclubs and other night entertainment establishments, and that set a maximum closing time of 00:30 hours.

However, the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia has already ruled against him and denies the precautionary measure, ordering that the preventive measures questioned by the undoubted preponderance of the general interest in the protection of public health, to the interest of hoteliers and gastronomic and leisure centers, be maintained.

From Feprohos they indicate that “the nightlife sector is one of the business and economic activities that is suffering the worst consequences of the coronavirus crisis”. Businessmen regret that it is projecting in the population “a negative image of the activity, blaming it for much of the outbreaks” and ensure that the sector “has scrupulously carried out all social measures, hygiene and security that have indicated at all times the health authorities. In addition to the resource they have now lost, they will study the possibility of calling for mobilizations.

Nightlife in Compostela 

On the other hand, the Compostela Hotel Association and the Association of Bars, Pubs and Discos of Santiago are trying to reach an agreement with the local government of Santiago de Compostela so that the city’s nightlife venues can work with a bar license and open their businesses at the hours allowed to them.

We believe that the normative news that prevents the opening of bars, nightclubs and discos, and that it is due to the reduction of hours for all the hotel and catering establishments, is a media measure that does not attend to sanitary criteria. It criminalizes licenses and not activities’, they say.

The two associations are also evaluating possible legal actions against this regulation that discriminates against the night hotel industry and that represents a very serious damage for a sector already very punished. “If this continues, it will mean the loss of hundreds of jobs and the permanent closure of dozens of establishments in our city,” they point out.

The sector also warns that without an alternative nightlife is very likely to multiply meetings in private spaces where there are no control measures, as they are being carried out inside the premises of the hotel industry (capacity control, safety distance, use of the mask …).

Compostela Hotels and Bars, Pubs and Discos of Santiago demand a balance between health safety and economic viability of the sector and call for individual responsibility and indiscriminate PCR testing as the maximum guarantee of virus containment.
