Camino de Invierno

Regional government, local authorities, associations of friends of the Camino de Santiago and other officials participated in an act of recognition of Winter Way as a new pilgrimage route to Compostela, through the enactment of the Law on Cultural Heritage, which formalizes and this Jacobean route.

An act in which a plaque was discovered, also served as recognition of the work of individuals, groups and associations that have made this recognition, thus contributing to the growth of the history and heritage of the Camino de Santiago.

Winter Way
Notably, the Winter Trail is the only path Jacobean pilgrimage through the four Galician provinces, with special relevance in the regions of Valedorras and Deza, as it runs largely by municipalities inside and Rodeiro, where he was held commemorative event.

This route starts in Ponferrada and follow the natural canal that marks the Sil River. With a plot of 210 kilometers that run through the four Galician provinces, after leaving the Bierzo he makes his entrance through the region of Valdeorras, then follow Monforte and link with the region of Deza, continuing along the Estrada to reach Compostela. In total, runs about twenty Galician city councils.

Cultural Heritage Act
Recognition of Winter Trail is one of the novelties introduced the Law on Cultural Heritage, legislation which, in the words of the Regional Minister of Education, Roman Rodriguez, “in addition to safeguarding the assets, was made to provide solutions to people, in collaboration with the municipalities “. Thus, it should be noted that with this new standard, the maximum protection of the unique heritage of Galicia is guaranteed, while that accelerate and facilitate administrative procedures.
